3 Strategies For Achieving Your Goals
Self improvement is difficult. Use any of these 3 strategies for achieving your goals to increase your chances of success.
1. Broad to Narrow
Start with the broadest vision, then narrow it down to what your primary need is.
You Want to be in Shape
- What is your definition of in shape?
- Where have you seen an example of where you want to be?
- How much does it mean to you?
- How urgent is it?
- What degree of perfection do you want?
- How much time per week are you willing to commit?
- How fast do you want progress?
- What is your plan for maintenance when you arrive?
- What are your assessments to know you are on the right track?
- How will you feel when you are there?
You want to improve a skill
- Where are your deficiencies?
- How do you improve the deficiencies?
- How much time will it take?
- What are the foundational concepts that will always be present?
- How close are you to the ceiling?
2. Small Consistent Steps
A little effort consistently over time beats out a sporadic monumental effort.
Determine What You Can Change Today
- How likely are you to stick to this change?
- What activity can you pair it with?
- How enjoyable is it?
- How easy is it?
What Can You Change By End of Month
- What needs to happen first?
- What are your resources?
- What will be done by the end of each week to set you up?
Where Are You in a Year From Now?
- Everything has been done, where are you now?
- What did you miss in the plan?
- What kept you going?
- Where did you find support?
- What would you modify?
3. Assessing Obstacles
If it was easy, everyone would do it. Revealing the obstacles is critical to overcoming them.
- What was the cause?
- How can you be more accountable?
- What is your support system?
- When does it happen?
- What needs to be modified or removed?
